Frank graduated with a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Washington. Upon graduation, he joined the Navy and spent his WWII service working for Boeing, in Seattle. After an illustrious 43 year career, Frank retired from Boeing as a vice president in 1984. His subsequent years were spent in Bellevue and Bermuda Dunes,California, where he enjoyed playing golf in the winter, and fishing in the summer. Since he often "shot his age" playing golf, he enjoyed telling people that "even Tiger Woods can't do that".
