Husband of Jane (Morrison) Leech (1769-1841). Son of Thomas Leech and Phebe (Penrose) Leech. John and Jane were married on November 25, 1788 in York County, Pennsylvania. They had at least twelve children together including: David, Thomas, William, Joseph, John, Samuel, Phoebe, James, Morris, Joshua, Jane and Asbury Leech.
John was a Veteran of the the War of 1812. He also served as a Justice of the Peace and he served in the Pennsylvania legislature and the Pennsylvania State Senate from 1825-1829. John was an early trustee of Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania.
John donated land for the Old Salem Methodist Church where the cemetery is located. He also donated a parsonage for the chuch. He served as steward, trustee and sexton of the church as well.
