John, first settler of the Phillips family of
Phillips Lake, where he received land as a Revolutionary
soldier.

Proprietor halfway house called the "Lake House", which is now known as Lucerne Inn.
The Lucerne Inn began as a family home built in the early 1800s. It was known then as the Lake House. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Inn is now a legendary and thriving business.
He served as George Washington's guard 1777-1778 2nd Massachusetts Regt.
