He graduated from Cyprus High School and served an LDS mission to Hawaii in the Central Pacific Mission. While working as a mail carrier, he delivered his own US Army draft notice and served as a Special Agent of the Counter Intelligence Corps during the Korean Conflict.
Upon return from the military he attended LDS Business College where he was elected Student Body President and caught the eye of his future eternal companion Marion Pack of Grace, Idaho. She was impressed that Harvey could type 100 words per minute, for ten minutes without a single error, on a manual typewriter. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 3, 1954.
Harvey graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Harvey and Marion chose to settle in Orem, Utah where they raised their family. He was employed by US Steel as an accountant and after retirement in 1984 went to work for the LDS church.
Harvey was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Young Men's President, Elder's Quorum President, Financial Clerk, High Counselor and Bishop of the Sharon Park 3rd Ward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Darrell, Doris, Lila, and Lynn, daughter-in-law Judy (Dave) Dimond and grandson Carson.
He is survived by his wife, Marion, and children David (Anne) Dimond, Karen (Wade) Stevens, Renae (Tim) Preston, Joe (Wendy) Dimond, Stephen (Annalee) Dimond, 22 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
