Roy Alfred Rakestraw, 91, of Gadsden, Alabama, died on February 25, 2015 in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Funeral: 2:00 p.m. March 1, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel, Rev. Roger Collins and Rev. Larry Garrard officiating. Visitation: from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. February 28, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel. Mr. Rakestraw was born on June 20, 1923, in Attalla, Alabama, to John Thomas and Carrie Rakestraw. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Peggy Rakestraw Adkison; his wife of 64 years, Francis Juanita (Stover) Rakestraw, and all of his siblings. He was a longtime member of Walnut Park Baptist Church. He was a skilled carpenter. He was a World War II veteran. He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, three granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren.
