She was a longtime resident of Ticonderoga, before relocating to Mechanicville 13 years ago.
Born Sept. 23, 1921, in Ticonderoga, she was the fourth of 10 children born to the late Charles E. and Mary E. (Hingston) Norton.
Kay married Glen L. Porter on April 19, 1941, at the Hague Baptist Church. They spent 48 blissful years together before his passing in 1990.
Upon Glen’s retirement from International Paper Co., the couple, along with their friends, put many miles on their motorcycles, traveling across the United States and to Nova Scotia.
Kay had a lovely voice, and enjoyed singing, as well as camping, snowmobiling, waterskiing, listening to blue grass music and dancing. Before her eyesight failed, she relished in reading, especially the Bible, quilting, crocheting, gardening and birdwatching with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and late husband, Kay was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret Nedeau, Charles Norton, Helen Poolet, Marion Whitford; and infant brothers, Bernard and John Norton.
Arrangements by the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
Kay will be laid to rest in the spring, beside her beloved husband, in Valley View Cemetery in Ticonderoga.
