He is survived by his wife Virginia Slate, his children David Eugene Slate, Jr., John Lee Slate, Randy Alan Slate, Grandchildren, David Michael Slate, Jeanneann Louise Slate, Terry Lee Slate, Joshua William Slate Rebecca Joanne Slate, Jesse James Mitchell, Allyne Francis Slate, and Christopher John Slate. Great Grand-children, Gage David Barnes and Emily Isabel Slate. He is also survived by his six sisters and one brother, and preceded in death by his mother Francis Louise Slate and father Chester Claude Slate, and one sister and one brother.
