Michael L. Hersek, devoted husband of Theresa Marta Hersek (deceased 2002); loving father of Marta, Michael, Tracy, Jeanine and Paul; and treasured grandfather of Sam, Andy, Chelsea, McKenna, Sierra, Beau, Matthew, Avery, Addison, Chloe and Isabella; and brother of Paul and Ron, passed away on Wednesday, Novembe r 21, 2007 of a heart attack. He was 70. Michael was an active member of St. Cyprian's Parish and his community. He was born in Toledo and grew up in Talmadge, Ohio. He served his country in the Air Force, attended The Ohio State University, and then moved to Southern California where he taught at Mayfair High School for more than 25 years. Later, he taught at Saint Mathias High School for more than 10 years. Michael has served on the Bellflower Unified School District Board of Education for the five years, currently its president. He had a passion for life; he loved spending time with friends and family, and enjoyed travel and the arts. He will be sorely missed. A rosary and viewing will be held on Monday, November 26th at 7pm at St. Cyprian's Catholic Church in Long Beach. A funeral mass will be held at 4pm on Tuesday, November 27, also at St. Cyprian's Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to B.U.S.D.
