Keith Hagel passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at the age of 49 years.

Keith is survived by his wife, Barbi Hagel, of Fredericksburg; three children Braiden, Karson and Katie Hagel; his mother, Silverlee Hagel, of Fredericksburg; a brother, Kris Hagel and wife, Irma, of Bryan, Texas; two sisters, Kay Wright and husband, Brian, and Kelle Rodriguez and husband, Louis, all of Fredericksburg, and his mother-in- law, Jan Beckmann, of Fredericksburg. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Allen Hagel, and his father-in-law, Roy Beckmann.

The Mass of Resurrection was celebrated on Friday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna presiding. Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Renee Avalos, Erwin Montgomery, Barry Beyer, Bryan Kneese, Craig Enderlin, Materno Sanchez, Mark Morin and Kenneth Meyer. Keith's children, nieces and nephews were honorary pallbearers. Visitation with the family was Thursday evening from 3-7 p.m. at Beckmann Funeral Home, followed by a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home led by Deacon Pat Klein.

Keith was born in Fredericksburg on March 13, 1963, the son Allen Hagel and Silverlee Crenwelge Hagel. He married Barbi Beckmann on May 7, 1988 at St. Mary's Catholic Church and she survives. He was a 1981 graduate of Fredericksburg High School and a graduate of Angelo State University. Keith was the owner of Hagel Dairy and was also engaged in raising beef cattle. He was very proud of his Angus beef herd. Keith was a giving and caring person. He was a wonderful husband and father. He always made time for his family and family is what was most important to him. One could not ask for a better friend. He was always willing to offer his time and skills to anyone that needed his help.

He was active in school activities at St. Mary's School and was a life-long member of St. Mary's Parish. Keith would never brag about his abilities, but he was talented in many areas: He was a good farmer, rancher and dairyman, an excellent mechanic and a good builder, electrician, plumber and welder. He always gave generously of his time to others. He will be so dearly missed by his family and friends. We are blessed to have had Keith in our lives.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the hundreds of people who came to the visitation, attended the service, sent food, flowers, memorials, and in so many other ways offered their help and sympathy.
