Dwight Delos Skelton died Saturday, January 21, 2006, at a local convalescent hospital of natural causes. He was 99.
A native of Locker, Texas, Mr. Skelton last resided in Corralitos. He lived in the area for 63 years. He worked as a welder in the San Francisco shipyards during World War II and for Martinelli's for 47 years. He was a member of Bethel Tabernacle for more than 60 years and was also a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He loved riding motorcycles, building and flying his planes and spending time with his family.
Mr. Skelton is survived by three sons, Robert (Wanda) Skelton of Watsonville, Lewey (Mona) Skelton of Selah, Wash., and Dan (Sue) Skelton of Cedar Ridge, Colo.; one brother, Merle Tuffy Skelton of Barstow, Texas; one sister, Vera Morris of Channing, Texas; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Lola, in 2002.
Visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davis Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
