While surrounded by loved ones, Bobby Wayne Michael, 87, went to rest in his eternal home on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Norman Regional Hospital in Norman, OK. Bobby resided in Oklahoma City, OK at the time of his passing. Bobby was born March 25, 1927 in Loves Valley, OK to William Bernard and Clemmie Opal (Scott) Michael.

Bobby was a Navy veteran of WWII. After returning from the war he met the love of his life, LaNell Colston at age 19. They married December 29, 1946 in Gainesville, TX. Bobby and LaNell made their home in Marietta where they were blessed with two children, Julie and Sam. For 67 years, Bob and LaNell were never seen apart. Where one would go, the other would follow. Whether it be in work or their personal lives, Bob and LaNell were inseparable and everlastingly devoted to one another.

Bobby and LaNell joined the First United Methodist Church in 1952, where Bobby was a man of deep and unwavering faith. He held many positions in the church and on several occasions was a guest speaker.

Bobby was very active in the community. He was a volunteer firefighter and ambulance driver, on the City Council, and a storm chaser. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking in his shop, and doing word search puzzles.

All who knew Bobby knew the joy of his humor, the kindness of his heart, and the love he had for his family. Bobby was always there to offer his support and strength. He always had a smile on his face, and he was the steadfast rock for his family and many friends. Bobby was a hard worker with unfaltering strength and drive.

Bobby worked for his best friend, J.O. “Boots” Martin, until the 1950’s when he bought out the Sinclair Service Station and wholesale distributorship, formerly on Main Street. When retiring in 1995 from Michael Oil Company, co-owner and operators Bobby and LaNell, sold the business to Boots Martin’s grandson and close friend of the family, King Martin.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, LaNell Michael; parents, William and Clemmie Michael; son, Sammy Wayne Michael; and sister, Virginia Hilgart.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Charles White of Norman; grandson, Matthew White and his wife Emily, also of Norman; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Serving as casket bearers will be Matthew White, Sam Betsill, Matt Johnson, Larry Martin, King Martin, and Joe Pete Martin.
