Shirley M. Gebelein, 89 of Marshfield died on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at House of The Dove in Marshfield.

Mass of Christian Burial 10am Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Cindy Penker along with St. John’s Funeral Choir will provide the music. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in the Town of Eau Pleine, Marathon County, WI.

Visitations will be from 4-7pm Friday at the Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield and again on Saturday at the church from 9am until service time. There will be a combined Parish and Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary service at 4pm Friday at the funeral home.

Shirley was born on June 29, 1925 in the Town of Day, Marathon County to William and Elsie (Maguire) Frieders. She was a graduate of Stratford High School in 1943.
She was united in marriage to Roy C. Gebelein on September 19, 1944 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Rozellville. Roy sadly passed away on September 7, 1992.

She raised her family while being in partnership with her husband Roy in Roy’s Mobile Service in Stratford until 1985. Shirley then was an interior decorator for10 years prior to moving to Marshfield in 2001.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother and enjoyed being with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Sister Judith Gebelein of Falls Church ,VA, Peggy Axelsen of Janseville, Lowell (Kathy) Gebelein of Auburndale, Diane (Donald) Stauber of Neenah, Duane (Sally) Gebelein of Marshfield, Maria Gebelein of Barnesville, GA and Tamara (Paul) Spindler of Stratford; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She is further survived by two brothers William Frieders of Weston and James (Janie) Frieders of Marathon City; two sisters, Helen (Norbert ) Novitzke of Mosinee and Florence (William) Reed of Berlin.

Besides her parents and husband Roy, she was preceded in death by a son Larry, and a sister Germaine Raasch.

Memorials may be designated in her name to either St. Joseph’s Palliative Care or House of The Dove in Marshfield.
