Parents: Nathaniel Place & Martha Allard.

Note that on Truman's DC, Sophia Miner is listed as his mother. This apparently is an error. Have not found any record to confirm that she was his mother.

Nathaniel was b. 5 Mar. 1796, Burlington, Chittenden Co., Vermont; d. 22 Oct 1872, Decatur Twp, Washington Co., Ohio. He died from complications of diabetes.

Interesting note: In the Washington Co., Ohio book of deaths, he and his future daughter-in-law's husband, Grier Croy, are listed right next to one another. They died one week apart. Grier died from consumption (TB).

Nathaniel m. Martha Eliza Allard 13 December 1818, Belpre, Washington Co., Ohio.

Martha was b. 1803, New Hampshire; d. 8 Mar 1882 Decatur Twp, Washington Co., Ohio.
