Mack Frank Hafen
August 24, 1910 – January 11, 1997

NEPHI - Mack Frank Hafen, age 86, passed away January 11, 1997, in Nephi, Utah. He was born August 24, 1910, in Mount Pleasant, Utah, to William and Matilda Ruesch Hafen. He married Merdith Anderson July 15, 1931, in the Manti LDS Temple. She died October 31, 1996, after 65 years of marriage.

He grew up in Mount Pleasant in a family of seven children. He attended school in the city but due to his father's sudden death, he stopped his education and worked on the family farm with his brother, Jay, helping to support their mother and her young family. When he and Merdith married, they purchased a farm north of the city and he continued to use his natural talent to till the soil and raise prized animals. Later they moved to Idaho, where he farmed and worked for Birdeye Company until he retired and they moved to Nephi.

Survived by children, Shana H. (Gene) Stevens of Beavercreek, Ohio; Marcia H. (Byron) Dansie of San Jose, Calif.; Lou Ann H. (Leo) Osbone of Nephi; Ed Mack (Trudy) Hafen of Melba, Idaho; 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rex and Ralph Hafen.

Preceded in death by brother and sisters, Jay, Elda H. Acord, Glenna H. Phillips, and Wilma H. Sorenson.

He was greatly loved and will be missed (especially his teasing) by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 15, 1997, in the Nephi 8th Ward, 222 South 100 East. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, and at the church one hour prior to services. Burial in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.
