Phillip Elza Cooper

Age 84 of New Lothrop passed away at home on Monday evening, February 23, 2015. With him were his wife, Dolores, daughter, Nanette and grandson, Douglas.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church in New Lothrop with Pastor Lee Sayor and Deacon Daniel Quaderer officiating. Interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive family and friends at the Nelson-House Funeral Homes New Lothrop Chapel on Thursday, February 26 from 2:00 to 8:00pm and at First United Methodist Church on Friday from 10:00am until the time of service.
Phillip was born on March 22, 1930 in Detroit to Aubrey C. and Flora (Hickman) Cooper. He married Dolores F. Johnson in New Lothrop on September 13, 1953.

Phillip served his country for 20 years in the United States Air Force. His last assignment in the Air Force was at NORAD in Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado Springs, Co. After his retirement he worked for and retired from Sears in Flint as the Parts Manager. In his spare time, Phillip enjoyed working on clocks and electronics, and he was also a member of the Masons, VFW, and the New Lothrop First United Methodist Church.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Dolores; his daughter, Nanette (Daniel) of Texas, his grandchildren, Douglas (Karen) of North Carolina, Erin (Tim) of Texas; his great-grandchildren, David, Brady, Grayson, Kennedy, and Ryleigh; as well as his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law.

He was predeceased by his parents, his son, Michael Phillip Cooper, and his brother, Aubrey J. Cooper.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Hometown Hospice or the United Methodist Church.
