Carrie C. Oliver, 85, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2011. She was born in Gatesville, NC, the daughter of the late Myrtle and Lonnie Carter. She was a long standing member of Portsmouth Christian Church and former member and past Worthy Matron of Tidal Wave Chapter of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her son, Harry Liniger and wife, Cathy, four grandchildren, Brooke Liniger, Eric Liniger, B. C. Rull and Cara Whitfield Randy, several great grandchildren and one special sister, Mary Edith Carter of Gates County, NC as well as several nieces and nephews. Carrie was predeceased by her husband, Thomas G. Oliver, and her daughter, Winifred Hoggard Albrecht.

She was devoted to her family and friends. Traveling, gardening and cooking were her joys.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 10, at 11 a.m. wtih Reverend Richard Laslo at Loving Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Burial will be in North Carolina at Gatesville Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friends may visit the family on Sunday, October 9, from 2 - 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Portsmouth Christian Church, Detroit Street, Portsmouth, VA 23707, in her memory.
