Alice (several siblings did use the Balkan spelling of Bolkan family in those who settled in ND.) was born in 1901 to parents Tus nee Ensrud and Martin P. Bolkan(Balkan). Her grandparents Petter and Anne Bolkan settled in Worth Co., Ia. and later Grandma settled with her eldest uncle.

She had three older brothers and six younger siblings-three sisters and three brothers.-Gustav, Henry, Alvin, Lillian, Anna, Myrtle, Clarence; the family being born continued to live in Trail County, N.D. throughout their lives.

Her mother was born and raised in Minnesota and her father was born in Trondhjem area, Norway.
Her grandparents Petter H. and Anna Bolkan left their homeland, supported and guided five of their seven children that came to the USA.
Alice's uncles and 1 aunt settled into Rock County, WI.for several years. The farming continued onto Worth County, Iowa around 1880.
As her father grew into adulthood he moved to Trail County, North Dakota. The family in 1930 had Gustav and Marie still living with her parents in Buxton, N.D..
Alice remained single and passed into eternity the year of 1975. She was buried near family Bolkan/aka Balkan members.
