Phillip C. Gardner, 93, of Manteno, passed away Tuesday (Feb. 24, 2015) at the Illinois Veterans Home in Manteno.

He was born July 21, 1921, in Kankakee, to Charles Phillip and Irene Studtman Gardner. He married Dorothy Leidecker on Dec. 26, 1946. She preceded him in death on Sept. 21, 1998.

Phillip retired from GNB Battery after 24 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II from 1942-1945 and Korea from 1950-1951.

Survivors include a son, Charles P. (Joanna) Gardner, of Limestone Twp.; a daughter, Donna Gardner, of Midlothian; and one grandchild.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife; daughter, Debra Gardner; three sisters, Viola Loica, Isabelle Baron and Lucille Dubiel; and one brother, Donald Gardner.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery in Irwin.
