She was preceded in death by her parents, Toliver and Mary Bell (Lankford) Jackson; four brothers, Edward Chesley "Jack," Woodrow Wilson "Banty," Eugene "Gene" and Mitchell Wayne "Mickey"; two sisters, Vivian Sue Knight and Shirley Langley; and her husband of 52 years, Leonard Stanley Smith. She is survived by her 4 children, Kathy Briggs (Frank), Frank Smith (Sally), Sharon Swann, and Tracy Smith (Nancy); eight grand children, and eight great grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith held Bachelors and Masters degrees in Special Education and was a proud member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She worked as an educator of students with special needs, and after her retirement, she worked as a college counselor and substitute teacher. Also, an accomplished guitarist and singer, Elizabeth was known for her "Minnie Pearl" impersonations.
Visitation was held at her home church, Powers Drive Baptist Church in Orlando on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service. Interment followed at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, FL. Baldwin-Fairchild of Winter Garden was in charge of the arrangements.
