RYAN, John Anthony Jr., of Richmond, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2009 surrounded by his wife and four children. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Mr. Ryan served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and participated in four island invasions including Saipan and Iwo Jima. He attended the University of Richmond and graduated from Pennsylvania Military College (Widener University). He retired as a Vice President with J.B. Eurell Co. in 1986. Mr. Ryan was predeceased by his parents, Winifred and John A. Ryan Sr.; and a sister, Kathleen L. Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elaine Caravati Ryan; two sons, Terry Ryan (Lisa), and Tim Ryan; and two daughters, Maureen Ryan Williams (Steve), and Bridget Ryan Berman (Roger). Mr. Ryan is also survived by ten grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 24, 1 p.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church with a burial following at Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Bridget Catholic Church, 6006 Three Chopt Rd., Richmond, 23226 and St. Gertrude High School, 3215 Stuart Ave., Richmond, 23221.
