BERTHA (BAILEY) GARRETT GILPIN - 89, of Taylorville, a former Pittsfield resident, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday (Jan. 8, 1981) in a Taylorville hospital. Mrs. Gilpin was born in Niantic, Ill., a daughter of James Sherman and Mary Cornelia Campbell Bailey. She married Charles Garrett Feb. 15, 1910. He died March 8, 1949. She married Ambrose G. Gilpin May 27, 1953, in Taylorville. He died Jan. 2, 1958. She was a member of the Christian Church and the Royal Neighbors of America. Surviving are two grandchildren, Charles Rhodes of New Berlin and Mrs. Janice Gutherie of Pittsfield; and a great-grandchild. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Pittsfield West Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Niebur Funeral Home.
