Mrs. Hershey was born in Rapho Township, near Mount Joy, on September 16, 1923, to the late Elam and Margaret Floyd Brubaker. She grew up on a farm in the Mount Joy area and graduated from East Donegal Township High School in 1941.
She and Melvin Martin Graybill were married April 17, 1943; he passed away 34 years later on July 12, 1977. They had farmed near Upper Lawn (Lebanon County) and at two locations near Mount Joy. On October 28, 1989, she and Robert E. Hershey were married; they lived in the Mount Joy area until her move to Landis Homes.
