Husband of
The late Geneva Dixon Gilkey.

He was a retired heat frost and asbestos worker with Local 51 in Louisville. He was a 32nd degree mason, a member of the Robinson # 221 Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and a Shriner. He was a Past Commander of American Legion Post 220; a Honorary Regimental Sergeant Major with the 623rd Field Artillery; a former board member of the Austin-Tracy Volunteer Fire Department; and a Kentucky Colonel.

Military
He was a Corpsman with the United States Navy, a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict, and a member of the Berean Baptist Church in Scottsville.

Survivors
Three sons, Marion Gilkey, Jr. (Connie) of Louisville, Lt. Col (ret.) Michael Gilkey of Greenville, and Patrick Gilkey (Lisa) of Louisville, two daughters, Pamela Maze of Mt. Washington and Ramona Hawkins (Jeff) of Louisville, one half-brother, Billy Long (Brenda) of Shepherdsville, one brother-in-law, Arthur Williams of Louisville, fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Predeceased by
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Danny Ray Gilkey, one grandson, Charles Michael Gilkey, one brother, Leo Gilkey, and one sister, Betty Williams.

Services
Funeral services held at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Masonic service held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at the funeral home.
