Laura Joyce Davis Douglas, 79, of Edgewater, Fla., died Saturday, February 21, 2015, in Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Edgewater.

She was born in Mapletown.

In 1995, she moved to Florida from Washington.

Mrs. Douglas worked for 30 years for the federal government.

She was a world traveler, nature lover and an accomplished artist for more than 55 years.

Mrs. Douglas and her late husband, Emory, were known as the king and queen of the ballroom by their Hacienda del Rio community.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Shaw-Mirango (Al) of Port Orange, Fla.; a son, Robert (Melissa) Shaw of Couerdalene, Idaho; a stepdaughter, Cathy (Mark) Chapman of Virginia; a stepson, Larry (Linda) Douglas of Maryland; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; a sister, Darla Maletic of Pennsylvania; and a brother, Jerry (Louise) Davis of Pennsylvania.

Deceased are her husband of 45 years, William Emory Douglas; her parents, Glenwood and Jean Spangenberg Davis; and a brother, Glenwood Davis Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 27, in Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, 406 South Orange Street, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32168. Interment will follow in Sea Pines Memorial Gardens, 3001 South Ridgewood Avenue, Edgewater.
