Lisbon - Robert Franklin Gardner, 88, died Monday, February 23, 2015 at the Salem Regional Medical Center.

Bob was born April 4, 1926 in Teagarden, OH, a son of the late Ben C. and Adda Irene (Hawkins) Gardner.

He worked as a machinist at E.W. Bliss Co. in Salem for 40 years.

A World War II Army veteran, he was a member of New Lisbon Presbyterian Church, New Lisbon F & AM No. 65, a life member of the American Legion, and a life member of VFW Post 4111. He also served as an officer in the United Steel Workers Local 3372 for 30 years.

Bob loved spoiling his grandchildren and working in his yard as well as attending auctions.

He was a very loyal husband to his late wife, Marjorie (Patterson) Gardner, who died in 2004. He was also preceded in death by a brother, James Gardner, and a sister, Dorothy Swogger Manning.

Survivors include his son, Mark R. (Deneen) Gardner of Leetonia, a sister, Betty Wenderoth of Columbiana; 2 granddaughters, Delaney and Mekensy Gardner; and many nieces and nephews.

A private family funeral will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at the New Lisbon Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cindy Carlisle officiating. Burial will be in Lisbon Cemetery.

Arrangements are being handled by the Weber Funeral Home.
