Jerold Dean Gleason, age 88, of Valley Springs, CA, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015, at his home in Valley Springs, surrounded by his loving family. Jerold was born in Eckley, CO on October 22, 1926, a son of the late Beulah Marie (White) and Elmer Thomas Gleason.
Jerold married Luella “Lola” Mae Holman on April 3, 1945. The couple met while working at Calaveras Forest Products in Toyon, CA. Jerold spent the majority of his career working at the Calaveras Cement Plant for 30 years as a heavy equipment mechanic. Other interests included gardening, enjoying a good story, and helping out friends and family whenever possible.
Jerold is survived by his daughter, Naomi Lovejoy; sons, Dennis Gleason and Daryl Gleason; sister, Carol Knapp; brother, John Gleason (all of Valley Springs, CA); grandchildren, Daniel and wife Jenifer Lovejoy; great grandchildren, Courtney, Megan, Allison, and Jeffrey Lovejoy (currently residing in Phoenix, AZ). He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Luella, in 2014; son, Jerold "Mickey" Gleason, in 2013; and brothers, Darlo Gleason and Clifford Gleason.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, February 28, 2015, 1:00 P.M. at Sunset View Cemetery, 10200 Hwy 88, Jackson, CA 95642. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
