THE END COMES TODAY TO MRS. JOHN R. OWENS
Death Follows Three Months' Illness –
Mrs. Susan McClain Owens, wife of J. R. Owens, died this morning at 12:05 at the Owens home. Mrs. Owens had been ill for three months with Bright's disease but her condition became critical last Sunday morning when she suffered a stroke of paralysis. She had been unconscious for four days.
Mrs. Owens was the daughter of John R. McClain and was born in the Glade neighborhood near Whiteland, April 18, 1842. She attended the Glade district school and became a member of the Glade Methodist church. She was married to Wesley Drake, whose death occurred in 1907. On February 5, 1910 she was married to John R. Owens. They had had a happy life and were especially congenial. Both were members of Grace Methodist church in whose interest they served with fine devotion.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Owens is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Peggs of the Franklin Telephone Company, and a grandson, Wesley List, a son of the late Mrs. Sam List, who was a daughter of Mrs. Owens, and a grand-daughter, Miss Mary Katherine Peggs. Fred R. Owens and Arthur Owens are step-sons.
…Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery.
