Cynthia Lea Ward-Peterson
November 17, 1957 - February 13, 2015

Cindy Lea Ward-Peterson was born on November 17 1957 to Eldon Arnold and Fern Lorraine Ward in Omaha Nebraska. She was the youngest of 4 children, and is survived by her husband Guy Peterson, daughters Ashley, Bailey, and Cory, a grandson William Kurtzhals, and her siblings: Gilbert Ward, Aileen Carlson, and Bruce Ward.

Cindy's mother raised her children in a no-nonsense way, this meant no idle TV viewing (except when she went for a visit to Grandma), lots of chores and learning about responsibility at a young age. She had a paper route as a pre-teen, where she learned the value of hard work, some dogs aren't very nice, and the same could be said of some of their owners. She had fond memories of visits to Grandma and Grandpa's farm in Iowa.

Cindy met her future husband as a teenager when her family was visiting the Peterson family in California. They started a long distance romance via the US mail. Guy wooed Cindy long distance for several years, until Cindy finally agreed to marry him.

Guy and Cindy were married on June 2nd 1979 in Omaha Nebraska during a school semester break. Her honeymoon consisted of the trip back to Phoenix with here possessions packed in the back of her car, a fact she never let Guy forget. As a young newlywed, Cindy worked as an underwriter for a local insurance office, and a data entry operator for NEC America. She also completed studies in computer programming.

In the early 80's the couple moved to Tucson AZ. In Tucson, Cindy learned that she was had endometriosis which left her unable to conceive. She was terribly disturbed by this news because of her longing for children. Cindy consulted doctors and prayed for children. The doctors didn't work out too well and she was traumatized to learn her fertility doctor committed suicide shortly before work took the couple to Colorado.

However, God was good and blessed Guy and Cindy with a daughter shortly after they had moved to Colorado. Their daughter Ashley was born to Guy and Cindy on October 2nd 1987. Her joy was tempered when it was discovered that Ashley had pyloric stenosis and needed surgery while she was still only a few months old, but God was good, and Ashley's surgery was successful and Ashley thrived, and so did Cindy.

Babies made Cindy happy, and as luck would have it, 18 months after Ashley was born, along came a healthy baby daughter named Bailey. Bailey was born March 22nd 1989. Work opportunity beckoned again and Cindy moved her family to Tempe Arizona. Life was good and she was blessed one final time when she delivered Cory on September 11th 1992.

Cindy joined baby sitting co-ops, went to PTA meetings, decorated her home, played piano at Faith Community church, volunteered in Sunday School, and even went on a “Mission trip” with the youth group to Mexico to renovate a church in Ciudad Obregon.

Cindy home schooled the girls for several years when she wasn't satisfied with the quality of education the girls were getting, returning the girls to public education when they got to high school age.

Cindy loved to crochet, knit, and scrapbook.

Cindy was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. In 2013, the cancer had metastasized to her liver and bone. She is survived by her husband Guy, 3 daughters Ashley, Bailey, and Cory, her grandson William, and her 3 siblings Gilbert, Aileen, and Bruce.
