Paul E. Kuehn, 62, DeWitt, Iowa, died Wednesday morning, May 12, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center-North Campus, Clinton, Iowa.

Paul Edward Kuehn was born July 14, 1941 in Clinton, the son of Ira and Mary (Judge) Kuehn. He graduated from DeWitt High School in 1959 and was a self-employed farmer and carpenter.

He was a life long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and the DeWitt Nite Lions. Paul loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He greatly enjoyed sports, helping people and draft horses.

Surviving are his children and their families, Julie Ashbacher, her husband, Daryl and their son Dylan, Peoria, Illinois; Tony Kuehn, his wife Bev and their daughter Sadie, Des Moines, Iowa; Steve Kuehn, his wife Peggy and their children, Mackenzie and Ira, DeWitt; Patrick Kuehn, Mankato, Minnesota; Jason Kuehn, Ottumwa, Iowa; three brothers, William Kuehn and his wife, Loretta, Des Moines; James Kuehn, DeWitt; Dr. Harold Kuehn and his wife, Nancy, Omaha, Nebraska. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Paul in death was a son, Matthew in 1976 and his parents.

Family and friends may visit at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 3 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 14, 2004 and from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. Saturday, May 15, 2004 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. Knights of Columbus Rosary 7 p.m. and Parish Vigil Service 8 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home. Liturgy of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church. The Rev. Fr. H. Robert Harness officiating. Interment in the Church Cemetery.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy memorials are suggested to St. Joseph School or Visiting Nurses Association.

Pallbearers will be Russell Soenksen, Steve Kedley, L. R. Roeder, Marty Spies, Steve Mangan, Dave Mangan and John Sheridan. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Burke, Paul Hinck, Joe Ryan, Mary Jane Dimmer, Keli Runge and Cathi Kleinsmith.
