Philip Abbott was the son of Stuart Abbott, a native of Scotland.

Philip married Doris Nichol.

Philip and Doris had three daughters;
1. Audrey Abbott
2. Anita Abbott
3. Ethel Abbott

Sometime after his wife's death, Philip remarried to Doris' widowed sister, Olive (Nichol) Thornton.

As a youngster, sometime after the death of his mother, Philip was sent to live with relatives in New York state. Philip's father, a gardener by profession, remarried and in 1919 moved on to 20-acre farm at 50817 Castleman Road, Rosedale, Chilliwack, British Columbia.

Philip returned to Canada sometime in the 1920s to live with his father and step-mother Mary. His father sold the farm in 1924 and moved to Alberta.

Philip Abbott moved to Chilliwack where he worked for twenty-five years as a printer for the "Chilliwack Progress".

Philip also served in the Canadian Army 1939-45 in France and Italy and rose to the rank of sergeant major.
