Beverly Joan Abbott, proudly and peacefully joined hands with her Lord and Savior in journey to her heavenly home on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:11 a.m. after a short illness at UMSMC at Dorchester.

"Bev" was born to the late Charlotte Magee Lucas in Philadelphia, PA., on April 5th, 1933 and lived there until moving to Cambridge, MD., with her mother and step father Frank Lucas in the early 40's where she later graduated from Cambridge Senior High School. She married her beloved husband of 60 years, Harold Lloyd Abbott after stealing his heart and baseball cap from him at a ball field in Robbins, MD. She often said "He was the prettiest thing I had ever seen!" Harold preceded her in death on February 8th, 2012.

Bev began her working career as a seamstress at Rob Roy Shirt Factory, an employee for many years at Western Publishing Company and finally retiring from Cambridge Airpax Electronics 18 years ago. Since her retirement she had immersed herself in her church family and friends at The Greater Works Christian Assembly of Cambridge, MD., and her family. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, knitting and crocheting, singing and playing guitar, and her family.

Beverly was blessed with a large and loving family which includes a step brother, Sherwood McGee Lucas, son Daniel "Firehawk" Abbott of Hudson, MD., daughter Shelley Suzanne Abbott of Cambridge, MD and son Jody Harold Abbott (Janet Calloway) of Hurlock, MD., two step granddaughters, Lauren Wright and Andrea McDorman, two grandsons, Sean and Kyle Abbott and four great grandchildren Darren, Gavin, Skylar and Isabella and adopted daughter and nurse friend Anita Campbell. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Michal Jodi Abbott.

Celebration of life services will be held at The Greater Works Christian Assembly, 3020 Center Dr., Cambridge MD., on Saturday, February 28th at 11:00 AM. Friends and family are asked to join us after the service for memories and fellowship at the church. On Friday evening, the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge. Beverly's earthly body will rest with her husband's at his gravesite at The Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be sent to Shevalan, Inc., 5314 Backwoods Dr., Cambridge, MD 21613, a fund established to help her son Jody Abbott and others in the immediate area battling cancer. Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home P.A. in Cambridge.
