Marine Lance Corp. Conboy was assigned to the Third Battalion, Third Marine Regiment, Third Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, as a rifleman. Conboy died as a result of a non-hostile gunshot wound (under investigation). Adam attended Shawmont Elementary School and Roxborough High School. In 2002, he moved briefly to Schwenksville where he graduated from Perkiomen Valley High School in June 2003. A sturdy 6 feet, 3 inches, he played baseball and football in high school. He then returned to Roxborough and worked as a conductor on a train crew with his father, Charles, at SMS Rail Lines in Bridgeport, N.J., before enlisting in the Marines. He became a Marine in March 2005 and graduated third in his class. He was immediately promoted to Private First Class and reported to the Oahu base last September. He just recently was promoted to Lance Corporal and had only been in Iraq for just eight weeks when he died. Adam was a passionate Eagles fan and a bit of a prankster; he knew to take life with a bit of humor. He had three tattoos to remind him where he came from. He had Ireland, the country of his ancestors, on his leg; Philly tattooed across his stomach; and the face of Jesus over his heart. Adam strongly felt that it was the responsibility of his generation to carry on the tradition and to defend his country so that we can enjoy the freedoms that we so readily take for granted. His medals include a Purple Heart.
