Howard R. Murray, age 84, died Sunday, February 8, 2015. He was born on October 2, 1930, to the late Garner N. and Celona Reese Murray. He was a Korean Conflict veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was an elder at the Augusta Presbyterian Church, a member of Masonic Lodge F&AM 80, V.F.W. Post 9535, Augusta Eastern Star Augusta Chapter 362, and Scottish Rite, in Covington, Kentucky. He was employed part-time for 26 years at Mary Ingles Manor and worked 35 years as a builder. He was also a former member of the Augusta Independent School Board.
He is survived by: his wife, Genna Lou Schwab Murray; two children, Garner L. "Buddy" (Mary) Murray and Sue Ann Murray; three grandchildren, Adam Shane (Jackie) Murray, Savanah (Junior) Marshall and Sarah (Bryon) Mitchell; seven great-grandchildren, Caleb Wright, Dillon Wright, Cheyanne Wright, Cameron Mitchell, Sierra Mitchell, Gracie Mitchell and Denise Smith; two step-great grandchildren, Hunter Marshall and Taylor Marshall; one great-great-grandchild, Ashton Honan; a sister, Susan Wehmeyer; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Howard Dale Murray.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Augusta Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to Augusta Presbyterian Church, V.F.W. Post 9535 or Masonic Lodge F&AM 80.
