Richard G. Roper, 65 years old, died in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Boston, on Sunday morning, October 21, 2012, after a long illness.

He was born in Taunton son of Goldie F. Roper of East Taunton and the late Elaine (Gadry) Roper. A life time Taunton resident, Richard was educated in Taunton Schools. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church while living in East Taunton. He was employed as a barber and worked in his father’s barber shop and also for the Comm of MA at the Taunton State Hospital. He enjoyed life to the fullest and loved his family, fishing, motorcycles, working on cars, closely following sports, listening and playing music.

He is survived, besides his father, his two sons, Richard G. Roper of New Bedford and Derek Roper and his wife Tonia of Lakeville. He is the grandfather of Anthony Roper of New Bedford, Brianna and Hannah Roper of Lakeville. He is also the brother of Rebecca Contreras and her husband William of East Taunton. Richard is the uncle of Missy Danforth and her husband Noel of Gaithersburg, MD and Jason Trout and his wife Beth of Taunton.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral from the Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home, 350 Somerset Ave., (Route 138 South) Taunton, on Friday, at 9 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Family Church, East Taunton at 10 AM. Visiting hours on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
