Survivors include two sons, Christopher (Lori) Miller, of Temperance, MI, and Neil Benjamin (Karrie) Miller, of Bowling Green, OH; a daughter, Stephanie (Gregory) of Carbondale, CO; 5 grandchildren, Angie, Brooke, Adam, Lindsay and Brittany: 3 great-grandchildren, Samuel, Sawyer and Keeley Mae; sister-in laws Lorraine Mowry of Toledo, OH, Lois Tester of Wauseon, OH, Winifred Miller of Lambertville, MI.
He was preceded in death by his 7 siblings, John George (Tony), Pierrepont, Blair (Duke), Noble (Nub), Eva, Kate, and Juanita (Nete).
Roy served in the US Army during the Korean War. Roy was an Optician and Custom Artificial Eye Maker and owned Miller Opticians and Miller Artificial Eye Laboratory .
Roy was an avid long distance runner. He ran many marathons including 8 Boston Marathons; he competed in a 10K race on his 80th birthday and took 1st place in his age group.
Family and friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm. A graveside service with military funeral honors will be held at Gethsemani Cemetery, 2001 Spencerville Road, Lima, Ohio on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at noon.
On a personal note: The first time Randy & I visited Ray's Optician Shop, we walked to the back. There were selves full of artificial eyes. They looked so real and every direction I looked there were eyeballs looking at us. Took a little getting used to.
