1st. Lt. Michael L. Licalzi of Garden City, New York was a 2000 graduate of Chaminade High School. Michael was an altar boy at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Garden City, and worked in the rectory. He was a normal kid who loved Star Wars. He did cross country and track, and was on the rowing team at Chaminade. When Michael decided to join the Marines, his father persuaded him to apply to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. There, he graduated in May 2004, then attended the Army Armor Center at Fort Knox, Ky., where he was first in his class. He was an honest, ethical, modest, diligent, hardworking student and Marine. Michael was also an accomplished boxer, though he'd given up the sport after graduating from the Naval Academy. In addition to his brother Luke and his parents, he is survived by a twin brother, Gregory Jr., and a sister, Elizabeth. Son of Gregory and Carol LiCalzi. He died as a result of a vehicle accident at age 24.
