William Block was a native of Mecklenburg, Germany. He married Sophia Fransen on 23 Jan 1866 in Will County, Illinois. His wife was the mother of nine children, five of whom survived by 1900. William was widowed in 1903. He died at age 68 and was interred in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Frankfort.
