Sister Willis confessed Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was a member of the New Jerusalem Holiness Church under the leadership of Elder Rebecca Fortner. She attended the Grady County School System and graduated with the Cairo High School class of 1973. She was also employed
with the Grady County School System as a Para- Professional for 32 years. Faye was very passionate and dedicated to all the students and children she encountered. Her work and dedications for children did not end once she retired, she continued to love and nurture children by providing child care for family, neighbors and friends. All of the children that came in contact with "Faye" loved her very much and she loved them very much in return.
In addition to being a great mom, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and church member she was also a tutor, a talented artist and writer.
Her great past time was writing poems. Faye's quiet spirit and beautiful smile will always be etched in our memories.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert G. Fortner, Grandparents- Luxie and Eager Sheffield, and Asberry Gilmore.
She leaves to cherish her legacy and fond memories a devoted son Carlos (Charo) Willis, Eastpointe, Ga., 3 loving and adorable grandchildren who were the apple of her eye Deja, Deonta, and Destiny Willis of Eastpointe, Ga. a caring and devoted mother Elder Rebecca Fortner, Cairo, Ga., a brother Robert (Linda) Fortner, Whitesburg, Ga., 4 sisters Delores Hughes, Atlanta, Ga., Veronica Holloway, Cleveland, Ohio, Wateasures (Larry) Simmons, Cairo, Ga. and Mae Lizzy Hill, Thomasville, Ga. , host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
