Born in Central Falls he was a son of the late Teofil and Petronela (Sowa) Pipka. He lived in Rumford for the past 52 years and was formerly of Pawtucket.
He was a 1937 graduate of R.I.S.D. in Architecture. He worked with Architect P.D. Creed and C.A. Maguire Engineers, until his Military service.
During WW II he was a Captain with the 146th Engineer Combat Battalion which was with the assault troops at Zero hour on D Day, Omaha Beach, Normandy, for which he received a Bronze Star. He saw Subsequent action in France, Belgium and Germany.
Upon returning home he did Retail Store Design and became a partner in the firm of Lamborghini & Pipka. The firm designed buildings at R.I. College, R.I.J.C. as well as Bank work for Industrial National and Hospital Trust. The firm also did work for the U.S. Corps of Engineers. He was a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Besides his wife he also leaves his loving son Randolph and his wife Rebecca of Dallas, TX and 2 devoted grandsons Joshua and Jordan Pipka also of Dallas, 1 nephew Rev. Matthew Rzeczkowski of Washington, D.C., he was the brother of the late Bernice Rzeczkowski.
A funeral with Military Honors will be held Friday May 8, 2009 at 10:00 AM from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home, 342 High Street, Central Falls with a Prayer Service in the Funeral Home at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in his memory to the R.I. Food Bank 200 Niantic Avenue, Providence, RI 02907 would be greatly appreciated.
