Brenda Kay Adkins Combs, 73 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Friday, February 20, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis, Tennessee.

Born Monday, February 24, 1941 in Dyer County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Clive Adkins and the late Mary Katherine Thomason Adkins.

Mrs. Combs was a retired registered nurse with the Women's Clinic of Dyersburg and member of Harmony Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Turner and Rev. Jack Criswell officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

She is survived by her husband, Rev. James Combs of Newbern, Tennessee; two sons, James Anthony Combs and Mark Alan Combs both of Newbern, Tennessee; four grandchildren; Chonda Smith, Brandon Combs, L. J. Cates, and Tracy Ciriello ; five great-grandchildren, Dallas Combs , Ansley Combs, Robert Disjardin, Scott Majcowski and Tessa Majcowski; two sisters-in-laws, Saundra Combs of Newbern, Tennessee and Carol Adkins of Mayfield, Kentucky and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Kay Combs; a grandson, Tony Combs and three brothers, Jerry Adkins, Billy Joe Adkins and Tommy Adkins.

Pallbearers will be Chuck Benjamin, Mark Pledge, Mickey Hudson, William Edward Parnell, Ronnie Parnell, Anthony Smith, Vincent Younger, Alton Winchester.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Coy Rushing.

The family ask that memorials be directed to the Dyer County Community Cancer Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
