F. W. ROWE DIES AT HIS HOME HERE
Retired Postal Employee Had Been Ill Since July 13
Frederick W. Rowe, 116 Bedford St., retired employee of the United States Postal Office died at his home at 11:50 o'clock yesterday morning after being ill since July 15, 1942. He was one of Cumberland's best known residents. Mr. Rowe, the son of the William and Elizabeth Wills Rowe, was born in Emmitsburg, Frederick Co., but in his early childhood moved to Cumberland when his family established its residence here. He received his education at Carroll Hall, taught first by secular school masters and later by the Brothers of Mary. For approximately thirty-four years he was employed at the local post office. He was a consistent member of St. Patrick's Church and was a regular attendant at the Holy Name Society of which he was a member. He possessed a fine bass voice and belong to the church choir and the Tenebrae Choir. He was a Third Degree Knight of Columbus. Mr. Rowe is survived by two sisters, Margaret Rowe and Mazie Rowe.
