CHARLES HENRY CALLAWAY

Charles Henry Callaway, 87, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Callaway, who came to Oregon in 1852, died at the Sacred Heart hospital December 26.

He was born in Cooper county, Mo., May 19, 1850. On June 18, 1872, he married Madora Richardson, who died in 1924. Mr. Callaway is survived by one son, Champ, of The Dalles; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Close and Mrs. Martin Mulkey, both of Eugene; six grandchildren, Mrs. Gladys Lutt of Omaha, Nebr., Owen Callaway of Oakland, Ca., Ben and Henry Callaway, of The Dalles, and Leroy and Leon Mulkey of Eugene; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary F. Roberts of Eugene; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Callaway joined the Baptist church at the age of 24, and was a member of the First Baptist church of Eugene. Funeral services will be held from the Veatch chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m., with Rev. A.J. Harms and Rev. Franklin Day in charge. Interment will be in the Mulkey cemetery.
