Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Von Garn Holbrook, age 83, passed away May 16, 1997, in Bountiful, Utah.

Von was born August 15, 1913, in Lehi, Utah, the son of Dr. Horace C. and Leona Garn Holbrook . He married Marjorie Birkin, later divorced. He married Roxey Romney Davis on January 28, 1982.After graduating from East High School he enrolled at the University of Utah in pre-engineering. A shift in focus put him into pre-med, graduating in 1935. His first two years of medical school were at the University of Utah. He then transfered to Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois graduating in 1939. He specialized in obstetrics and gynecology. His Army Medical Corps service included the European Theater. Von returned to Salt Lake City to practice medicine where he introduced the use of new surgicaltechniques to this area.

Among Von's active interests were hunting, fishing, boating, and pack-tripping with his horses in the Uintahs. He was an avid reader and gained a vast knowledge of countless subjects. He was always current with the happenings in the world, and was especially fascinated with Utah history and geography. Von had a gentle, tender, and caring nature. He was much loved by his patients, and respected by his professional associates.

Survivors include his wife Roxey, of Bountiful, two sons and one daughter, Birkin (Bonnie) Holbrook, Saratoga Ca; Kathy ( Ray)Hancock, West Jordan, Ut; Jon B. Holbrook, Bountiful, UT; one step-daughter, Roxey Ann Holbrook, New York , NY. He is also survived by two grandchildren, Christopher Holbrook, San Diego CA; Rosanna Holbrook, Saratoga, CA; and four brothers Dr. Horace (Thelma) Holbrook, Provo, UT; Brigham "Bim" Holbrook; Dr. Boyd Holbrook; Arva Holbrook (John) Whitby; Eldon (Marian) Holbrook all of SLC, UT. Preceded in death by one sister Leona, one brother R. Garn and his parents.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 1997, 3 pm, at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2020 South 200 West, Bountiful, Utah. Funeral Directors: The Holbrook Mortuary.
