Son of William James & Mary Connington of 67 Chantry Street, North Goulburn, New South Wales. A fitter and turner prior to enlisting in the Australian Flying Corps, he embarked for overseas aboard HMAT "Ulysses" (A38) on 25 October 1916. He completed fitting and mechanical courses in Scotland and served in France from August 1917. He returned to England to begin training as a pilot flying officer but became ill with pneumonia and subsequently died in the Aylesbury Military Hospital, aged 23 years.
