Mrs. Marie McKinney age 93, of Mt.Vernon passed away peacefully Thursday February 19, 2015 at the Rockcastle Health & Rehab in Brodhead. She was born on April 19, 1921 in Rockcastle County the daughter of the late John Wesley and Mary Lovina Sowder Kirby. She was a homemaker, loved visiting with family & friends, going to Hardee's, shopping, music, movies, and the color red as many know. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her children; Lillian Renner of Ohio, Jack McKinney of Mt.Vernon, and Sharon (Joe) Lovins of Mt.Vernon. Eight grandchildren; Teresa (John) Herbst of Florida, Carol (Tim) Short of Florida, Joe (Caroline) Lovins Jr. of Eubank, Jeff (Shelly) McKinney of Ohio, Jack Lovins of Mt.Vernon, Paula (Matthew) Hahn of Ohio, Jim (Jenny) Lovins of Berea, and Jamie (Jason) Groves of Richmond. Twenty-two great grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren also survive. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband of 72 years Caleb (C.S.) McKinney, by seven sisters; Vinie, Lavada, Marguerite, Ella Mae, Nellie, Cleo, and Julie, by three brothers; Ben, Lovell, and Raymond, and by three grandchildren; Alan, Lisa, and Regina
