Lyman Samuel Berlien, son of John and Mary Berlien, was born in Scott township, Steuben county , Indiana, on Feb. 26, 1872, and departed this life at his farm home in Allengansee township, Branch county, Michigan, on June 4, 1932, age 60 years,3 months and 8 days.
On September 9, 1893, he was united in marriage to Jessie Parsons and to this union four children were born; Fordyce, who preceded the father in death, Mrs. Edna Sommers, of near Coldwater, Mich., Ernest Berlien, of near Fremont, Ind., Mrs. Velma Billman, of near Quincy, Mich., and one grandson, Carlyle Lester Berlien.
He also leaves a widow, an aged father and mother, now past the eightieth milestone on their pathway of life, three sisters, Mrs. Edith Cole, Mrs. George Souders, Mrs. Waldo Hanna, two brothers, Perry and Fred all of Angola, and other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Berlien has lived at his present residence for a goodly number of years and has always been highly esteemed by his neighbors as a man who was always ready to lend a helping hand in times of need and his loyalty as a citizen could not be questioned. He was a good husband a kind father and a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed in his community.
Funeral services were held at South Scott Tuesday, June 7, with the pastor of the church of "No God's Corners" officiating, and buried at South Scott Cemetery.
