Leon (Barney) Barnett, age 90, of Smyrna, passed away February 19, 2015. A funeral service was held at the Log Cabin Community Church. Interment was in Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery.

A longtime resident of Smyrna, Mr. Barnett served in the US Army under General George Patton’s 3rd Army and received the French Medal of Honor. He owned and operated Post Mark Atlanta and Barnett Advertising before retiring. Mr. Barnett was a member of the Log Cabin Community Church. He was a Mason and member of Bolton Lodge #416 and a member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple, and also a member of American Legion Post #160. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Barnett and his brothers Jack and Bobby Barnett. Mr. Barnett is survived by his wife Ruth Mackay Barnett; daughters Barbara Cochran of Smyrna, Brentcie (Hank) Westbrook of Marietta, Bobbi Carlton of Smyrna, and Susan (Bill) West of Knoxville, TN; son David (Pat) Mackay of Smyrna; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions to the Log Cabin Community Church or Boy Scout Troop #1 c/o the Log Cabin Community Church.
