Mr. Walter Ravaughn Ashley, age 82 husband of Myrna Ashley of North Wilkesboro passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 21st 2:00 PM at Welcome Home Baptist Church on Welcome Home Baptist Church Road, with the Rev. Richard Whittington and Rev. Jeff Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:30 PM prior to the service. Entombment with Military Honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1142 will be held at Scenic Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Mr. Ashley was born in Wilkes County on November 30, 1932 to Walter Austin and Mae Goforth Ashley. Mr. Ashley served in the United States Army. He was a member of Welcome Home Baptist Church and retired as the owner of C&J LP Gas Company. Mr. Ashley was a member of the North Wilkesboro Rotary Club. He was a board member of the West Wilkes Water Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first wife; Betty Ruth Byers Ashley, two sisters; Hazel Williams and Ruth Elaine Helms, and one brother; Wade Ashley. Mr. Ashley is survived by his wife; two sons, Randy Ashley and wife Donna of North Wilkesboro, Lyn Ashley and wife Cindy of North Wilkesboro, two step-children; Donna Link-Williams, Jimmy Vance Link, five grandchildren; Ryan Ashley, Travis Ashley, Tyler Ashley and wife Kate, Veronica Calloway and Austin Ashley, four sisters; Clara Faye Shelton of Havelock, Aretta Murphy of Los Angeles, California, Geraldine Show of San Diego, California; Brenda Maucher of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
