Mary Lucile McAlister Turner, “Granny”, age 93, a resident of Millbrook, AL died peacefully Thursday, February 12, 2015 at the Bill Nichols VA Home in Alex City, AL after an extended illness. Ms. Turner is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Sidney Harold Turner, parents Lee Otis & Gertrude McAlister, ten brothers & sisters; Helen Estes, henry McAlister, Nannie Yates, Kathleen McAlister, Pete McAlister, Adren McAlister, Beatrice McAlister, Lewis McAlister, Willie Frank McAlister, and Joy Ann Griffith. Ms. Turner is survived by daughters, Kathy Kelley (Rick Bailes), Lisa Savage (Jerry), five grandchildren, Dustin Savage (Rebecca), Kevin Kelley (Staci), Lauren Thompson (Jason), Kris Kelley, Brett Savage (Kasey); twelve great grandchildren, one sister Lillian Lott of Texas, one brother,, Graves McAlister of Pine level, AL; and many nieces and nephews. Ms. Turner was a World War II Veteran, a member of Millbrook Presbyterian Church, and a resident of Millbrook Community for over 60 years. Ms. Turner was an active church member and aso in her children’s, grand and great-grand children’s lives. She was supportive in the community especially the Millbrook Fire Department, where her husband was the Fire Fighter Chief for many years. “Mary, Lucile, Mom, Granny” will be missed greatly. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Brookside Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with Rev. Charles R. Francisco officiating. Family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Pallbearers are Dustin Savage, Kevin Kelley, Kris Kelley, Brett Savage, Jason Thompson, and Dallas Bailes.
In lieu of flowers the family asks to donate to favorite church or charity, or the Alzheimer’s Association. Brookside Funeral Home of Millbrook, AL directing.
