He came from Søndre Midsem plads, Kråkstad, Akershus county. Later he moved to Kristiania and then Arendal. He was married twice.

First he married Signe Andersen B: 1879/1880. Kristiania.
They got three children. According to the census (folketelling) from 1910 Kristiania, he was at that time a widower (enkemann). He had moved from Stolmagergata 16 to Verksgata 32, Kristiania.

1. Bertrand Hendrik Andersen. B:16/4-1899 (not confirmed) Kristiania.
2. Hjørdis Elfrida Andersen.B:17/09-1900. Kristiania.
3. Gerhard Emanuel Andersen.B:20/12-1906. Kristiania.

His second marriage was with Jenny Eleonore Jakobsen.
Married 1911 (not confirmed). They moved to Arendal, Aust-Agder county. They got two ? children, Paul and Wilgård.
